New Year, New Path, Right Decision

Updated: Aug 27, 2019

My work so far this back-to-school season has reinforced that I am exactly where I am meant to be

Back-to-school season has been a fantastic whirlwind!

As you all embark on the new adventure of a new school year – new students, new rooms, new materials - I am also embarking on a new exploration. Over the summer, I started my own business – KH Literacy Education, LLC. I am now consulting independently, working as an adjunct for Region 20, and working part-time for Achieve 3000, an educational technology company whose product I used (and loved) while at my former district. After a crazy couple of weeks, I am now getting to sit and reflect on my decision to go out on my own. And I couldn’t be happier.

I feel like I am truly meant to work with and support teachers – the foundation of our educational system. And I’ve had so much fun! Every session I facilitated reinforced that I am where I need to be! Thank you to the teachers of Uvalde, Judson, Crystal City, Harlandale, and Ganado for being so incredible to work with! You left me feeling inspired and excited! And I can’t wait to work with you again!

I've had so much fun working with these fantastic teachers!

I also had a fantastic experience presenting at TEKSCon! I am excited to see how participants will get their students reading, writing, listening, and speaking every day!

On top of all that, I had my first ever book signing! I felt so supported as friends, family, and strangers came out to the Twig and bought my book. I hope that Guiding Questions is a useful text for all educators. If you want to know more about it, check out an excerpt I posted in a past blog. If you are interested in purchasing a copy of the book, there are limited signed copies available at The Twig and the book is available to order online at Amazon.com.

I am also so honored and humbled to be featured in ELEONORA Magazine’s 2019 Texas Women to Watch feature! Thank you for supporting me on this new journey! You can check out the article here.

And a big thank you to all my friends and supporters! I cannot thank you enough! I am so excited for the future and all this new school year will bring!

I hope everyone is having a great beginning to the school year! And I hope that my work and this blog can be a resource for you in your classroom!
